Father’s Day is a celebration of fathers and fatherhood. It is celebrated on the third Sunday of June in many countries around the world, including the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom. The day is a time to honour fathers, grandfathers, and other male role models who have made a significant impact in the lives of their children. This year Father’s Day held on 18th June.
Father’s Day is a time to honour and celebrate fathers and fatherhood. Whether you are a father, grandfather, or someone who has been influenced by a special father figure, take a moment to reflect on the importance of this holiday. Let’s use this day to express our gratitude to the fathers in our lives and to acknowledge the important role that they play in our families and communities.
The Father’s Day origination is back to the early 20th century. In the
United States, the first celebration of Father’s Day was held on June 19, 1910,
in Spokane, Washington. The idea for Father’s Day was conceived by a
woman named Sonora Dodd. She wanted to honor her father, who had raised
her and her siblings as a single parent after their mother died. The
idea of a national Father’s Day was not immediately embraced, and it
took several decades for the holiday to gain traction. President Richard
Nixon signed a proclamation making Father’s Day a national holiday in
the United States in 1972.
